Women’s Health

Women’s health is a diverse area where issues can change throughout a life span.

The female body changes during development, life stages and ageing and due to conditions caused by hormones most notably in females.

Women’s health issues relate to menstruation, contraception, maternal health, child birth, menopause and breast and other specific cancers.

There are many support services and information that is available on a wide range of issues, some of which are listed below:

  • Menopause Matters: for information about menopause, its symptoms and treatment options.
  • Menopause (NHS): information about treatment for menopause and perimenopause
  • Breast Cancer: information looking at lifestyle choices, risks, and prevention.
  • CoppaFeel!: charity raising awareness of breast cancer particularly aimed towards younger women
  • Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust: All about cervical screening for women of all ages, for trans men and non-binary people.
  • Women’s Health Concern: confidential, independent service to advise women about their gynecological, sexual and post-reproductive health.
  • Pregnancy (NHS):advice about trying for a baby, pregnancy, labour and birth.
  • Pregnancy and birth (Gov): Government website with advice on working, time off and financial support when you have a baby.
  • NCT: a charity website with advice and support for parents through pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
